Much like a Super Bowl prediction for a year from now, the odds this far out are meaningless. Also there isn’t enough data or any really similar data to Trump, essentially a third party candidate inside one of the major parties. But, once again I’ll say it, I’m more than happy to see the final be a Trump v. Hillary. I think Trump wins that in a walk, but even that race alone is a win for me. It says F the Establishment and F the racist everyone is a bigot pimps.

Actually the majority of eligible voters do not vote. When the majority votes none of the above for any political office, that office should be vacant until the next election.

In 2014 I voted NOTA for all candidates in my district in Arizona. I and 70% of the peole who did not vote, were cheated.

Comment by Max Power
2015-12-31 12:34:35

Not voting can be interpreted as voting for none of the above or just as apathy. Can’t really tell the difference. If you want to register a NOTA vote, vote for a 3rd party candidate. Any 3rd party candidate will do.

It’s too bad that you can’t enjoy a Trump Steak for dinner this evening.

What happened: Trump launched his name-brand steaks specifically for Sharper Image (and naturally graced the cover of the Sharper Image catalogue) in 2007. They have since been discontinued.

The prices ranged from $199 for a pack of 12 steak burgers and four steaks, all the way up to $999 for a selection of 16 top cuts.

Bonus: The Trump Steakhouse in Las Vegas was briefly shut down following 51 health code violations, including expired yogurt and five-month old duck.

What Trump said about his namesake meats: “When it comes to great steaks, I’ve just raised the stakes! … Trump Steaks are the world’s greatest steaks … Treat yourself to the very, very best life has to offer … One bite and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. And believe me: I understand steaks. They’re my favorite food.”

“So since growth is all but impossible, corporations have resorted to financial engineering to keep the wagon rolling – all courtesy of the Fed, with near-zero short- and long-term interest rates.

They’ve had two options: either increase stock buybacks to leverage their stagnant earnings with rising earnings-per-share on fewer shares, or increase dividends to compete with lower and lower yielding bonds (also courtesy of the Fed). And they’ve been milking both options for all they’re worth!”

“That is because Brazil’s problem is not entirely of Brazil, at least not in the way most people think. The country has a “dollar” problem and unless that gets solved there is nothing that can be done. As noted with Russia, the problem was locked in place the moment Brazil accepted the “dollar” and undertook its synthetic short decades ago; it was a deal with the devil, providing artificial and short-term what looked like prosperity but in the end terribly fleeting and ultimately unsound. The only choices now are to sit back and hope the eurodollar system is somehow, miraculously rebuilt on its own, of its own, or to get busy with realigning and re-orienting the economy and financial system to a far different paradigm where credit-based expansion (explosion) in the world’s reserve currency no longer drives artificial and speculative “growth.” Brazil’s economy is already forcing that latter option, and the results so far are frightening in how far it might have to go.”

I love cats but my cat would barf up a mess every couple of weeks and I could not handle that. Had to donate $600 to a no kill shelter and give the cat to it. Enjoyed watching the cat race around and sometimes jump up a wall to something I could not see. Cats in my parents’ household were outdoor cats, in Fresno where the night temps could get into the 20s in January. My dad grew up on a farm in Ohio and they had lots of cats - all outside. They earned their way by catching mice. They are smart enough to find warm places.

“The ruble crashed anyway, because if there is one thing the “dollar short” cannot abide it is danger in the underlying collateral. In that respect, the ruble trades with oil not just in what that means for the Russian economy, which is disturbing anyway, but more so under the purview of wholesale finance – rolling over the “dollar” short becomes more and more difficult and costly. With oil dropping again recently, the ruble is once more at a new and devastating low.

The Bloomberg article reporting the trouble at VEB places blame on “Western sanctions” and they may have something of that effect, however, given the ruble, in my judgement, the far larger problem is the “dollar.” It is the same abject lesson that is being repeated now all across Asia and the EM’s, particularly Brazil and China. Each of these countries came to the “dollar” table thinking they had “bought” enough insulation in forex reserves to play what is truly a dangerous game of eurodollar finance in wholesale terms. And time and again in the past year we see quite the opposite; that bank and forex “reserves” of dollars and whatever else have been utterly useless in protecting or even dampening volatility and disorder (the Chinese, who have the largest pile of believed dollar and forex reserves in human history still regularly suffer the great disruption of “dollar” irregularity).

Because of those believed-resources, central banks have been engaging exactly how they are “supposed to”; often resorting to the same wholesale means (forwards, swaps, repos, etc.) that most often present the very channels of disarray. And in each instance, China and Brazil most visibly, they find themselves in wholesale quicksand; the more they struggle, the deeper they sink. If VEB heads toward full-blown bailout and perhaps eventual displacement from the eurodollar entirely, we can add Russia to that dubious list.”

I recently received this email:

I recently asked my friends’ little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President of the United States. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there. So I asked her, “If you were President, what would be the first thing you would do?” She replied, “I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.” Her parents proudly beamed. “Wow…what a worthy goal,” I told her. “But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. Tell you what – you can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my driveway, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house. How about doing something wonderful like that?” She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?” I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party.” Her parents still aren’t speaking to me.

Cleveland Rocks, Cleveland Rocks, Cleveland Rocks, Cleeeevland Rocks!!!

“Cleveland Rocks” is a rock song by Ian Hunter from his 1979 album You’re Never Alone with a Schizophrenic. The song is seen as a de facto anthem in Cleveland, Ohio.[1] The song was played every Friday at 6:00 PM on Cleveland radio station WMMS beginning in 1979 and is used as a victory song for the city’s sports teams. In recognition of “Cleveland Rocks”.

Cleveland does rock. I’ve probably seen more live shows there than in any other city. Pink Floyd at old Cleveland Stadium, David Bowie and the Grateful Dead at Richfield Coliseum, George Clinton & P-Funk Allstars at the Agora, Blossom Music Center, Grog Shop, Peabody’s, Nautica in the Flats, Gund Arena (I refuse to call it “The Q”), CSU Convocation Center, Euclid Tavern, Phantasy Nightclub, the Odeon, Beachland Ballroom, and all the venues on Main St in Akron and Water St in Kent.

“Dr. Ben Carson is the rare black American, free from The Liberal Thought Plantation, unwillingly to dance for his liberal betters or apologize for America while portraying himself as a sufferer.”

The Liberal Media Lynching of Dr. Ben Carson

by Jerome Hudson
9 Oct 2015

We are all witnessing an elaborate liberal media lynching of Dr. Ben Carson. The former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon turned leading black Republican presidential candidate is just the latest “uppity negro” (Justice Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain) to defy the expectations of his white liberal mainstream media masters by deciding to ditch the political hymnal from which most blacks read and think for himself.

No matter that before he was surgically splitting brains, Ben Carson was being raised in poverty by a single mother. The disgusting, and yet prevailing, wisdom among far too many Americans is that if black people grow up impoverished like Ben Carson did, their unfortunate fate is a fixture of an America that is, always was, and always will be a devoutly racist place. And if you are black in America, you should never expect to achieve any meaningful socioeconomic success–like becoming a brilliant brain surgeon–simply because of the barriers American racism persistently permit.

Of course, this is fallacy.

More pointedly, Ben Carson rebukes that bitter ethos and the victim-focused racial identity it breeds. And now that–as a national figure running for president–he has chosen not to be a mindless minstrel puppet, tap dancing, performing, like a good boy, for his white liberal media gatekeepers, he is being whipped, strung up, and left to hang.

For all the Left’s pseudo-social science drivel about how white America “otherizes” blacks–mercilessly demeaning their humanity, transforming them to subhuman status–one would assume there would be more influential African Americans defending Ben Carson from abhorrent attacks like being called a “coon” by an Ivy League professor.

I dare you to imagine a GQ headline that read, “Fuck Barack Obama.”

You can’t.

Why is it this way? Carson’s political flogging, if you will, serves two purposes.

First, it serves as a warning to blacks, Hispanics, women, and any other member of the Liberal Victimhood Class System that should you ever decide to leave The Liberal Thought Plantation, we’ll sic the dogs on you!

Second, the mainstream media is a 24-hour propaganda mill charged with protecting a false narrative about American life for blacks, Hispanics, and women in 2015 to benefit the Democratic party. There are Cardinals of Faith that liberal media elites must propagate and protect. And Ben Carson–his life story, his politically incorrect character–is a threat and is anathema to the preferred progressive orthodoxy.

Dr. Ben Carson is the rare black American, free from The Liberal Thought Plantation, unwillingly to dance for his liberal betters or apologize for America while portraying himself as a sufferer.

Dr. Ben Carson is an existential threat to the Democrat Media Complex. For this, he must be destroyed.

Engineer finds examples of ‘horrific’ construction in tornado wreckage.

An engineer who inspected damage across North Texas after Saturday’s deadly tornadoes says he saw “rampant irresponsibleness” in the way many homes and buildings were constructed.

Free standing walls, not attached to the foundation…yikes! I think most of the homes in that area were built in the 80’s through current.

It’s more likely the district opted out of the engineers services during construction as though it were an optional service.

Straight from conservative headquarters at National Affairs:

“The Republican position — either avowed ignorance or conspiracy theorizing — is ultimately unsustainable, but some still cling to it because they believe that accepting the premise that some climate change is occurring as a result of human action means accepting the conclusions of the most rabid left-wing climate activists. They fear, at least implicitly, that the politics of climate change is just a twisted road with a known destination: supporting new carbon taxes, a cap-and-trade system, or other statist means of energy rationing, and in the process ceding yet another key economic sector to government control. Conservatives seem to be on the horns of a dilemma: They will have to either continue to ignore real scientific findings or accept higher taxes, energy rationing, and increased regulation.”

can anyone here produce a chart or any kind of data showing the actual earnings for the s&p 500 over the past 5 years?

I’m looking for the actual dollar amount that the companies made after the normal costs of business. Not doctored numbers like earnings per share that is manipulated by companies borrowing money to buy shares. Basically I want operating cash flow.

We are constantly fed bs numbers that include / share and ex items numbers.
