GM To Cut 500 Jobs, Eliminate Shift At Plant Near Detroit

by Reuters | October 24, 2015

General Motors Co will cut 500 jobs as a shift is eliminated at a plant near Detroit that makes weak-selling small cars, the company said on Friday.

The decision comes a day after GM said it would add 1,200 jobs and a shift at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant.

The shift at the small-car Lake Orion plant near Detroit will end by early next year, and the new shift at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant will begin in the first quarter, GM said.

Benghazi Victim’s Uncle on Hillary Clinton: “At Least We Know She Tells HER Family the Truth”

Michael Ingmire, uncle of Sean Smith who was killed in Benghazi, went on The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson after the morning session of the Benghazi hearing with Hillary Clinton.

Earlier today Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) nailed Hillary Clinton by producing docmentation that Hillary Clinton told her family the truth but lied to the American public just an hour before about the attack.

Hillary Clinton told the American people the night of the Benghazi attack that it was a reaction to a Youtube video.

At 11:00 that night – after she told the public it was a reaction to a YouTube video – she wrote her family and told them it was an Al-Qaeda attack.

She knew it was a terror attack from the start.

Hillary Clinton: Katy Perry on the Brain During Benghazi Hearings

10/22/2015 3:34 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Hillary Clinton was dealing with some pretty heavy issues Thursday at the Benghazi hearings, but when she took a break she was in Katy Perry mode.

During the break you can hear Hillary ask a guy named Dave if he’ll be coming to the Katy Perry concert this weekend. It’s unclear if she knew her voice would be picked up on an ABC News microphone.

Hillary’s throwing a campaign event in Iowa Saturday where Katy will perform.

Dave hopes to go.

“WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what may be the most serious allegation ever made against the former Secretary of State, Fox News Channel reported today that Hillary Clinton was involved in the conspiracy to murder President Abraham Lincoln.

The latest charge against Mrs. Clinton was reported by Fox host Sean Hannity, who said that the evidence of her role in the Lincoln assassination came mainly in the form of e-mails.

According to Mr. Hannity, “If it’s true that Hillary Clinton killed Lincoln, this could have a major impact on her chances in 2016.”

Chelsea Clinton: I tried to care about money but couldn’t

BY Leslie Larson
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Updated: Monday, June 23, 2014, 5:13 PM

Hillary Clinton insists she isn’t “well-off” and now daughter Chelsea, according to a recent interview, claims she couldn’t care less about money.

“I was curious if I could care about (money) on some fundamental level, and I couldn’t,” she told Fast Company in an interview that ran in the magazine’s May edition, explaining why she gave up lucrative gigs to join her family’s philanthropic foundation.

Comparing her experience to the average millennial, the 34-year-old former first daughter defended jumping around to different careers — from consulting to a hedge fund to academia to journalism — before finding her true calling working with her parents.

“It is frustrating, because who wants to grow up and follow their parents? I’ve tried really hard to care about things that were very different from my parents … it’s a funny thing to realize I feel called to this work, both as a daughter and also as someone who believes I have contributions to make,” she continued about her reluctant status as a boomerang kid.

The Clinton name likely opened doors for the political heiress, including an eye-popping $600,000 annual salary for an irregular stint as an NBC special correspondent, but Chelsea insists her work speaks for itself.

“I will just always work harder (than anybody else) and hopefully perform better,” said Clinton, who along with former banker husband Marc Mezvinsky, purchased a $10.5-million Gramercy Park apartment in 2013. “And hopefully, over time, I preempt and erase whatever expectations people have of me not having a good work ethic, or not being smart, or not being motivated.”

The comments, while not new, have nonetheless garnered a new round of attention in recent days after her mom and likely 2016 candidate, Hillary, was criticized for remarks suggesting she exited the White House “dead broke” and wasn’t “truly well off” despite millions of dollars in public speaking earnings. People who don’t care about money are usually the ones that are blessed with an abundance of money.

People who are not blessed with an abundance of money usually care a great deal about it, because when it is scarce, money equates to survival.

Count your blessings, Chelsea.

I remember reading about her fist job out of a school, a six figure stint at a business consulting firm. I can only imagine how much she was resented by her coworkers, who know the real reason she was hired. Shen then moved on to other “jobs”, until landing her current sweet gig. It pays to have powerful parents.

Yeah, it must be nice to never have to worry about money or having a job.

Her parents speeches are pure economics.

If a Clinton speech makes it more likely that a person is going to pay $1k+ to attend a conference, they are worth paying. Bill Clinton was once the headline at the SALT Conference in Vegas…the guy running it was really too young to have gotten any favors from Clinton, but the conference was attended by a few thousand people, if I can remember correctly, and for a couple of thousand a pop, it’s worth paying Clinton his speaking fee.

Hogwash.

Withdrawing $100 creates a $3,000 leverage shortage and .50 cents interest saved yearly vs about $150 earned ! That $150 creates about $45 in dividends which increases the stock price and the option benefit!

The banks don’t want the interest charge on fed savings but want the interest differential ! Respect for the greater good is lost on these guys.

Of course they will go for negative rates - another income earner - but why should they worry about deposit runs if they keep the “discharge rate” low ? They can always increase their transaction costs !

It’s called watering down the ability of the public to rise up against the bankers.

1. Anytime a group like Occupy Wall Street starts to form you can
a. Create a racial incident
b. Create division within the ranks of the group. The GOP uses racial fear and hatred like a scalpel to keep working class republicans from voting their economic interest. Taxing the elite is just handing money to those negro’s and Mexican’s.

2. Drive down wages - More slave laborers. Germany has been using Greece and the weaker members of the EU to keep the Euro low and thus suppress the wages to it’s laborers.

3. Demographic shifts - As Europeans stopped having a lot of kids the population is getting older and they want new blood. They think any new blood will do. We’ll see. My take is that in the age of robots Japan has the right formula. Workers will become more and more a liability. When economic collapse comes as the elite gather a higher and higher percentage of the worlds wealth to their underground vaults. They will want to have an old and grey population not an angry young one about.

The bottom line it’s short term thinking.

British Prime Minister David Cameron (L) shakes hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping following the Xi’s speech at the UK-China Business Summit in Mansion House, central London, on October 21, 2015, on the second day of his state visit. Britain and China are set to seal business contracts worth billions on the second day of President Xi Jinping’s state visit, including on Britain’s first nuclear power plant in decades. Amongst an adverse demographic shift, slumping GDP and a lack of democracy, China’s economic slowdown is looking increasingly fragile.

The UK has rolled out the red carpet for Chinese president Xi Jinping on his five-day official visit. He is being given the royal treatment, including a stay at Buckingham Palace, a ride in a state carriage along The Mall and several banquets. The trip will also include plenty of time with the British prime minister, David Cameron, who is keen to discuss the trade and investment that the UK hopes to secure from the visit.

Britain’s pivot to China is largely based on its economic strength. And yet there is cause for concern. Having been the locomotive for global growth following the financial crisis in 2008, Chinese growth has now slowed and its economy is looking increasingly fragile. The latest GDP figures came in at just under 7%, significantly down from the astounding annual rate of more than 9% per year between 1990 and 2010.

Exports from China have declined, and exports to China must battle against the depreciating yuan. China’s slowdown has depressed global commodity prices, adversely affecting big exporting countries such as Brazil and Russia.

Some leading economists have been very optimistic about China. Nobel Laureate Robert Fogel published an article in 2010 that predicted that China’s GDP will grow at an average annual rate of more than 8% until 2040, when its GDP per capita would be twice that projected for Europe and similar to that in the United States. Fogel used a textbook method of analysis to predict an unrelenting upward path.

But as countries grow, their service sectors tend to increase as a proportion of output and employment. Rates of growth of productivity in services tend to be much lower than in manufacturing or agriculture. Hence, in any economy, growth rates are likely to slow down through changes in economic structure. There are several other reasons why China’s economic growth is set to stall.

Comment by Blue Skye
2015-10-24 09:15:38

China’s service sector will grow in percentage as the manufacturing sector contracts. It’s not a strategy.

GDP per capita is meaningless to the wellbeing of the individual, even if the GDP numbers are real. Income per capita falls as the service sector % rises. Intermediate manufacturing is not counted in GDP, but it is in personal income.

The -fixr had a chance to get two tickets for Game 6 yesterday morning.

“Cash talks”……..sent the guy a text photo of the “Benjamins”. Third base side, field level,15 rows back. Guy was an in-law of a friend.

Best part……..after the rain delay, and Madsen took himself and his gasoline can to the showers, when the Royals came to bat in the bottom of the eighth, most people started taking up the “Lets Go Royals” chant……except for some guys in my section

Their chant? “Save Ned’s Job”

Saw the game on TV, man, that was an intense game. Unbelievable that the Jays had a man on third with no one out in the 9th and couldn’t bring him home. Looking forward to the World Series, that should be a good matchup.

Many years ago I attended the Toronto Blue Jay’s opening day in the old outdoor stadium.

It was very cold that day and a relentless 20 mph wind was blowing in off of Lake Ontario. Around the 4th inning, the crowd started chanting,

We want a dome!
We want a dome!
We want a dome!

The key paragraph for readers here who are barraged with the lie that housing starts actually means something;

“While I’ll have a complete dissection of yesterday’s existing home sales statistical abortion released by the National Association of Realtors and gleefully delivered by its cross-eyed, dim-witted chief “economist,” Larry Yun, I wrote an article for Seeking Alpha in which explained why the housing starts report is completely useless as an indicator of activity – healthy or otherwise – in the housing market: The Housing Starts Metric Is Useless”

The article must be quite lame if that’s the key paragraph.

Donald Trump Kicks Univision Out of Florida Rally, Campaign Confirms

Trump pulls a Putin and silences his critics. When you use strongarm tactics on the press, the press will turn on you and the negative media coverage is tough to overcome. This won’t end well.

Ain’t it da trute. Who cares what Univision thinks? They should pay more attention to the crime and corruption in Mexico, but they know they’d be killed if they did. Oooh, such brave, outspoken journalists.

As in the US, the Mexican media is owned by oligarchs and will not print any inconvenient truths. For real news and real truth, also as in the US, you need to turn to citizen journalists & bloggers.

Nature is so fickle.

Watched for news this morning of the most ferocious cyclone since the creation of the earth obliterating the Mexican coast. Fortunately it was not to be. No 40 ft waves, no major damage and no deaths.

Nothing much in Jalisco State to destroy. It’s one of the poorest in Mexico, and the mountains would break up the force of the storm.

The news showed a guy putting a few sandbags in front of his beach house. I thought That’s not going to help much! Another showed a shop keeper cementing up his store entrance with bricks. Man, I bet he’s pissed.

“Meet one of Bill & Hillary’s many pimps.”

That’s quite a read there, RKH.

Funny how Gore thought he could get to the White House on his own… not owe anyone later. And the spinning of a $100k fiber optic stock investment into $18m before its collapse is a cautionary tale for average folks and their nest egg. McAuliffe is the kind of guy you keep close to keep an eye on him.

Well this is a problem. How can our crony capitalist political “representatives” pile more unpayable debt onto future generations if they can’t get the votes? Reminder: according to Jack Lew, we run out of money on November 3rd.
