There must have been an old school phone booth somewhere near Ted Cruz’ D.C. office, as the Senator from Texas seemed to have gone into superhero mode on Nov. 4. Let’s recap the loquacious one’s most excellent day.

In the morning, as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Cruz grilled Stuart Delery, Obama’s nominee for U.S. Associate Attorney General, who in his current role at the Justice Department approved the Operation Choke Point initiative that sought to deny banking services to gun dealers and other businesses.

Cruz explained his opposition to Delery’s nomination because of this political weaponization of Obama’s Justice Department

the Yahoo that Went on the so-called hunger strike, the seven year college student, is a son of a railroad executive who made more than 7 million dollars last year.

this is the same university that had the first gay football player ever drafted in the NFL, their student body president is a gay black man. Sounds like a really intolerant place?

this is the same student body president that claims he was verbally accosted with racial remarks while off campus, the same guy who tweeted that the KKK was on campus on Tuesday, despite law enforcement saying exactly the opposite.

What about the other issues? How is the Univ Prez responsible for someone shouting racial comments off campus? Does the student president have any credibility left after tweeting ‘the KKK is here, stay away from windows’? He’s the same guy that reported the alleged off campus incident. There were multiple other tweets from students alleging the KKK was throwing bricks through dorm windows, escorted by the police no less!

Like I said, these students are in for a bad surprise when they leave the university.

Race wasn’t the only issue. The Mizzou president was a business man who didn’t know how to do a different kind of job. University presidents and the POTUS are not entry level jobs. They are political jobs, not CEO type jobs.

Race Wasn’t the Only Issue at University of Missouri

http://www.wsj.com/articles/race-not-only-mizzou-issue-1447206995

COLUMBIA, Mo.—Racial tensions were merely the tip of the iceberg leading to the dramatic resignations Monday of University of Missouri President Tim Wolfe and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin, according to professors, students, state lawmakers and others.

Both men made a series of enemies among faculty, graduate students and legislators, these people said. As students’ discontent over a series of recent racial incidents escalated, they found few ready supporters around campus, they added.

Maybe the students didn’t want the image all over the media?

Good point. And why might they not want covered? Yesterday I slammed that faculty Click lady trying to push around the journalists in that camp and she did wrong, but then I read an article today that showed the other side of the story that I had not thought about.

There’s a good reason protesters at the University of Missouri didn’t want the media around
Students wanted to create a safe space from not only the racism they encounter on campus, but the insensitivity they encounter in the news media.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/11/11/theres-a-good-reason-protesters-at-the-university-of-missouri-didnt-want-the-media-around/

…..any journalist – had a legal right to enter the space, given that it was in a public area. But that shouldn’t be the end of this story….The black community distrusts the news media because it has failed to cover black pain fairly.

….In many communities that historically have been marginalized and unfairly portrayed by the media, there’s good reason why people do not trust journalists. There’s a tendency in news media to criminalize black people’s pain and resistance to racial oppression. We saw it in coverage of Ferguson and Baltimore, when news stations provided more coverage of broken windows in their communities than of black pain.

The unfair portrayal of black people in the news media is well documented. In one study analyzing news coverage by 26 local television stations, black people were rarely portrayed unless they had committed a crime. A 2015 University of Houston study found that this imbalanced coverage may lead viewers to develop racial bias against black people because it often over-represents them in crime rates.

The students want to create a safe space around themselves in which there is no perceived racism, just like some religious people want to create a safe space around themselves in which there is no perceived toleration of “sin”. In which, for example, they can refuse service to those they see as sinners, or refuse to give prescribed medicine if they think its use is sinful.

It’s two sides of the same coin. A personal space in which no one, not even the Constitution, can tell you what to do.

I’ll say this again; in 2003 when Arizona had its first referendum on cutting aid to illegals, every state officeholder was against it. It passed in a landslide. Then it came out that it was also supported landslide manner by Hispanic voters. They didn’t like lower wages and human trafficking either.

We aren’t doing any favor to the people south of the border to allow those governments to export their poverty and social unrest to the US. They should fix their economic and social problems. Again, why is Mexico, with all its resources and “hard working” people such a basket case? It’s ridiculous how this debate is framed and perpetuated.

Trump does not think well imo. He’s like a smart 11 year old. Example: Trump says wages in the USA are “too low” to compete while saying our trade deals are bad because they lose jobs and lower wages. Trump speaks at a 4th grade level which also is a reflection of his brain power and/or function. In every debate Trump seems to fade out after the first hour and looks tired. Like some of his policies or not, imo Trump is not presidential material in body and mind.

Donald Trump Talks Like a 4th Grader: Report

Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump talks like a 4th grader, according to a linguistic analysis performed by Politico’s Jack Shafer. Shafer ran the text of Trumps’ responses in the recent Republican debate through the Flesch-Kincaid test, designed to determine how difficult a given passage is to understand for English readers:

Have you acknowledged your white male privilege today?

Missouri football players announce boycott over school president

Last Updated Nov 8, 2015 10:32 PM EST

For months, black student groups have complained of racial slurs and other slights on the overwhelmingly white, 35,000-student campus.

Many of the protests have been led by an organization called Concerned Student 1950, which gets its name from the year the university accepted its first black student.

Its members besieged Wolfe’s car at homecoming last month, and they have been conducting a sit-in on a campus plaza since last Monday.

The organization has demanded among other things that Wolfe “acknowledge his white male privilege,” that he be removed immediately, and that the school adopt a mandatory racial-awareness program and hire more black faculty and staff.

Where is Missouri anyway? Yesterday someone said it was the south,

I said Blacks were victims of southern racism in Missouri - one of the most interesting and ignominious states in relation to the subject of racism.

Missouri typically is categorized as both a Midwestern and a southern state. The region was split on Union and Confederate issues during the Civil War. A small region of the state is called Little Dixie for the influx of southerners that settled there.

http://officialcitysites.org/us/states/missouri/

Now, geographically Missouri might not be totally “in the south” however I lived in Missouri for 2 years next to a (Confederate Memorial Cemetary no less) and lived in states bordering Missouri for many years growing up. I’ve seen Missouri’s southern component and in some racial aspects Missouri is more “southern” than some states below the Mason Dixon line.

Interesting sports aside:
Kansas and Missouri have the only sports rivalry (The Border War) that goes back to the only states that were actually at war with each other over slavery- and right before the Civil War (Which actually began there according to many historians.) There is hate in that sports rivalry.
See: Bleeding Kansas

During the Civil War, Missouri pro slavery racists under Quantrill burned my University town to the ground killing almost 200 people.
See: Lawrence Massacre

Missouri is also home to one of the most segregated cities in the USA, St Louis, and St. Louis County including Ferguson has proven to have some of the worst institutionalized racism in America.

One of the thinks I’ve been accused of having is a “liberal bias”. Which, as a guy who considers himself an “Eisenhower Republican” says a lot about the state of the Republican Party.

And if relating anecdotes from my personal experiences (or of first hand experiences by other people in the business that I trust to accurately report details) that illustrate how the decision making processes of the people running the aviation industry are screwing up one of the countries most important industries are considered “liberal bias”, you can:

A). Disregard it. Machts nichts to me.
B). If by illustrating these things, I show that there is a downside to all of this off shoring, corner cutting, and deregulation of a safety-related industry is driven by Republicans and their business, and that these things have bad consequences, well I guess I’ll say “Guilty as charged”

The Eisenhower library in Abilene Kansas is awesome. Heck, his boyhood house is still on the grounds. Eisenhower worked for MacArthur in the Philippines before WWII. Two totally different brands of greatness imo. Can’t say they were friends though. But MacArthur was always jealous of the “Europe First” policy later. He thought the future lay in the East for USA’s interests.

Missouri to be named Misery or….

“…..The state is named for the Missouri River, which was named after the indigenous Missouri Indians, a flea bitten, fly eating tribe. They were called the ouemessourita, meaning “those who have dog dung in their heads” or “the dog dung gathering fly eaters” depending on the season.

The name “Missouri” has several different pronunciations even among its present-day natives, depending on the amount of Methamphetamine produced in each region and the number of teeth missing in the speaker.”

(lol. Just kidding. Missouri is Fine. Southern Missouri is stunning and KC is a very cool city with great people. I actually know a lot of very cool and bright people from Missouri and Mizzou, but us former Kansans love to tease Missouri.) :)

Krugman is frustrated with the appointment of Neel Kashkari to president of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve bank.

Kashkari ran a self-serving campaign for Governor of Calif. where he lost to the popular Brown by 19 points — and everybody in the state knew he ran with no intention of winning, only to get publicity for himself.

Kashkari oversaw TARP, worked with Paulson, worked at Goldman, worked at PIMCO. Another apologist for the oligarchy is now embedded in the Fed.

I’ll re-post this from Dan Sanchez:

‘Justice (liberty and property) is what makes a civilization great. And civilization is what makes a populace rich and safe. In short, being good is what makes a people truly great. Being good means peaceful and voluntary exchange, both commercial and cultural, to the enrichment of all, both material and spiritual.’

‘Being good means not making enemies throughout the world by bombing, starving, and subjugating potential fellow members of the ecumenical market society and excusing it as “foreign policy,” “global strategy,” and “collateral damage.”

‘Being good means not pretending to have a partial claim over every single piece of private or “public” property under your government’s illegitimate jurisdiction, such that you can exclude others from it based on them being born under a different illegitimate jurisdiction.’

‘And as the left needs to realize, being good also means not raiding the coffers of other socio-economic “classes” simply because they have more than you, and excusing it as “addressing wealth inequality.”

‘In other words, being good means acting like decent human beings, and not like a ravenous, paranoid, amoral Herd.’

‘America the Herd is ever at odds with America the Civilization. It is America the Herd that is keeping America the Civilization from feeling and being prosperous and safe. For too long, we have let our rulers ride us roughshod, using us to trample the economy and global tranquility with its economic and military interventions.’

‘Next time someone accuses you of “hating America” for denouncing beastly policies and the tribalism that endorses and enables such savagery, tell them, “I love America the Civilization, which is why I despise America the Herd. For you, it seems to be the other way around.”

‘Make America good again, and the kinds of greatness actually worth having will naturally follow.’

2015-11-12 11:48:19

Let me explain some libertarian thinking on borders via my own experience. (Long time readers have heard this more than once, but allow me please).

I was an open border person all the way. Then I moved near the Mexico border. 85% of health care was basically welfare. When you applied for a job, you didn’t even ask what the pay was; it was going to be minimum wage. I met one guy who told me how he came from Mexico illegally years ago. Way south in Mexico. He could live in the zone between the actual border and the checkpoint without any worries, indefinitely. He then told me his entire family had all come to the same area; all 150 of them. Mexico was awful, he explained. I asked him, why didn’t you stay and try to make things better? He just laughed, said it was impossible.

What I eventually concluded was open borders are incompatible with our system. No safety net can survive the numbers that would come here if they could. Does that mean I am for welfare programs? No, but I can see it won’t work the way this country is set up. Sanchez probably likes the idea of no government. We don’t really need one if you think about it. (If you’ve got to have a state, I always liked the city-state concept from ancient times). But none of that is the reality. With the system we have, open borders just aren’t feasible.

And besides accepting our own current realities, there is also the question of why they want to come in the first place. Which probably is the result of corrupt, socialist governments down south.

I need to filter it through my kidneys first.

Speaking of kidneys and water I had my first kidney stone (s).

Caution: Medical stuff story

I can handle pain more than most but it really hurt. So it’s past 5pm and I’m in agony and we’re thinking, do I use my private insurance and go halfway across town to my private emergency thing or 4 blocks to the “Che Guevara godless Commie” free public clinic?

Pain was too bad so CommieClinic it was. Checked in with my Brazilian “green card”, took a number and waited about 30 min and Doctor Trotsky asked me my symptoms and they had me go #1 in a red cup with a hammer and sickle on it and they hooked me up to an IV with pain killers that didn’t do squat, so after half hour of that IV, I said it didn’t work so they hooked me up with the real deal IV that did work.

The girl getting an IV next to me had food poisoning from Pizza she said. The other lady to my left getting an IV said she was in pain all over. Heard a child crying terribly in one of the doctor’s windowless office. My urine test came back in about 90 min indicating probable kidney stone but, I went home with prescriptions, in no pain and no hospital bill. Zero. (Because it was a CommieClinic.)

This was about 3 weeks ago and I was told to take a bunch of tests that I didn’t, because I read most times kidney stones come out themselves. Over the weeks the pain wasn’t so bad and I felt the stones go from kidney to bladder which did hurt and was uncomfortable but I could handle it and 2 stones came out the other day. I think I got them because it’s a jungle here - always sweating and impossible to drink enough water imo.

They still tell me to take those tests but I feel fine, 2 stones are gone so I think I’ll just drink more water (if that’s possible) play it by ear. (kidney)

Disclaimer: Story is true but the doctor wasn’t named Trotsky, the cup wasn’t red, no hammer and sickle on it, and the public clinics are “free” but Brazil is not a Socialist country by definition.

Any idea what 2 pain killer/hydration IV’s, urine test and a consultation would run in a USA emergency room?

Take magnesium. I had one attack, then started taking a lot of Mg, haven’t had one since (7+ years ago). Here’s a quote from the first article that came up in a google for “kidney stones and magnesium”:

Harvard researchers found that taking 180 mg of magnesium along with 10 mg of vitamin B6 daily will prevent kidney stones by 92.3 percent per year! Another study showed about a 90 percent reduction with magnesium alone (500 mg daily).

Aside from being a very nice country, Brazil is the thermometer up China’s butt, and what is really happening in China will affect us all. So I keep an eye on it. Brazil is showing us something, no?

Also, we have an office in São Paulo to which I provide technical support and thereby derive some income, so I do hear some things and am interested.

As for the Olympics; What were you guys thinking? It’s headed for disaster because of your corruption; social, financial, and sewagerial. And you are such a butthead for not caring about any of it.

So what if you Pineapples know nothing about ocean chemistry? Should I try to teach you? You have your “talking points” as our friends here say, and you will stick to them. Yours is a mocking contest on a second grade level, not a quest for understanding. I am content that CO2 will not destroy the oceans, melt the oysters, exterminate the reefs and all that. I don’t know why, but I think it would be interesting to have the details of the math of the mania. Are you thinking that you would have paid 1/4 the price of a grand house in rent each year? House prices were 4x rent?

Being confident as you were then that Brazil was going to the moon, did you build modestly, or build multiples of what you would have rented if you thought of housing as simply a regretful expense? How does that factor into the 4x rent supposition?

If you did not inherit the money from your dear old mom, who you went down there to tend, who now supposedly lives in the US, then you might have used your USD to do the deed. Being a young fellow you had plenty of USD going in right? Or at least you felt you looked like a young fellow. Anyway, you are still there and still see your stuff in USD. Right? Or not?

So, with your economy (where you live and work or beach) tanking, and you have lost 60% at least in the exchange rate to USD and prices in the local peso are not going to the moon, can you explain the math? Please try to do so at a 4th grade level so we can grasp it.

Do it because you want to, not because we asked.

Didn’t really want to but, went to Brazil to help spouse’s dying Mom. Built house on land bought years ago for cheap. Money invested in construction and land has been well paid back by free rent since. Every month receive about 3K in “free” rent on a house that has already paid for itself. Transient currency fluctuations and market price just affects the potential future profits which are just pie-in-the-sky for now. Who cares? Even if I recieve zero for house in the future, its return will be better than the stock market and with a rad place to live. Math over.

PS: My mom lives in the USA and always has.

The bubble happened after I was all-in. I just rode it in amazement. I was in, no matter which direction the market went.

But in my situation, there’s no way I will lose a dime. How can I lose anything when I’ve already recouped my invested money in a “free” place to live?

The article says that Bernie Sanders is in favor of free tuition, but makes no mention of Nancy Pelosi. I wonder where the Pelosi obsession comes from.

Didn’t China once have a “workers’ and peasants’ Red revolution” precisely to overthrow the tyranny of exploitive robber-baron capitalists like this one?

If all the boomers are turning 65 (11k a day for the next 15 yrs) and the average retiree has $21k to live off…. meanwhile millennials are graduating with record debts…. how does this turn out well for soc sec for the 45 yr olds who have to wait until 70 to retire??

You can probably look that up somewhere. If you get that statement annually from the Social Security administration, it’s usually in there somewhere. Some time around 2033 there will only be enough to pay out around 75% of what has been promised.

“Safe Space” Students Silence Asian Woman For Saying “Black People Can Be Racist”

Students at Claremont McKenna College in California who are demanding a racially segregated “safe space” for “marginalized identities,” silenced and embarrassed an Asian woman when she described how she had been racially harassed by an African-American man.

The exchange is damning because it illustrates how the “safe space” students don’t really care about racism, they only care about race baiting and exploiting identity politics in order to obtain power.
