The engine of global growth is in reverse.
“China’s foreign trade is set to decline by 7.2 percent this year, according to the official customs information service haiguan.info.”
“China’s foreign trade — the largest in the world by volume — is set to fall to 24.5 trillion yuan ($3.8 trillion), with imports reaching 10.3 trillion yuan ($1.61 trillion), down 14.4 percent year-on-year, and exports falling 1.1 percent to 14.2 trillion yuan ($2.22 trillion), said the report, cited by China’s Global Times.”
“Imports were mainly affected as energy imports fell 53 percent since the beginning of the year.”
Through the magic of GDP calculations and “adjustments” this will be reported as growth.

Another interesting tidbit from China:
A widening regulatory probe into some of China’s biggest brokerages has set nerves jangling in a financial industry still recovering from a summer of turmoil, with fear of becoming entangled in investigations spreading among foreign investors.
People working at domestic securities firms report an ugly mood after news in the past week of increased scrutiny of the sector by authorities. A nervous inertia is slowing new business as staff are encouraged to report their bosses or colleagues for corruption.
“It’s creating a very dog-eat-dog environment,” said a partner at a Chinese mutual fund. “People collect evidence on their bosses, because if they get rid of their boss, it means that they can get promoted faster.”
“A lawyer who has assisted foreign firms caught up in the probes said some were introducing new onshore compliance programs, although that did not guarantee keeping out of trouble.
“You can’t ‘comply’ because there is no rule of law,” he said. “The best thing you can do is establish processes for who is likely to be taken away, and how to make sure they aren’t disappeared forever.”

I love the smell of globalization in the morning.
“The best thing you can do is establish processes for who is likely to be taken away, and how to make sure they aren’t disappeared forever.”
It’s a regular Socialist’s utopia.
Chinese are communists. You don’t have to know the meaning of the word, but it’s important to put the right frightening label on the right frightening country.
Socialist utopia…
… triggered by unfettered, unregulated, and corrupted capitalism. A true socialist utopia would have cut this crap off at the pass.
Chinese are communists.
China abandoned communism decades ago. China today is a totalitarian mixed socialist-capitalist state.
try to tell the billionaires in China that it is a Communist country.
Wang Jianlin, Jack Ma,
Could this help explain why the Baltic Dry Index hit an all-time low within the past week or so?
prolonged and painful deflation
“…the deflationary period facing China is going to be quite prolonged and painful. This likely holds true for not just China but for the global economy from spillover effects in a variety of markets. The enormous investment in the past decade that is still ongoing essentially time shifted large amounts of investment. If China even returns to some type of normal for investment, this would have large implications. For instance, this would signal a sustained downward shift in demand for investment inputs. Given that 50% of Chinese GDP is still linked to investment, this would have an enormous impact on GDP.”
http://www.baldingsworld.com/2015/12/03/deflationary-prospects-for-china/
The next decade could well be the worst time to be in debt of our whole lifetime. Buckling up will mean getting out of investments levitated by the crumbling credit pyramid.
Cascading defaults sneaking up.
“Corporate defaults in emerging countries have hit their highest level since 2009 this year, and are already up 40% over last year, according to Standard & Poor’s.”
“Many companies in difficulty are, like China Fishery, Asia-based. While emerging-market corporate debt globally has risen fivefold over the past decade, totaling $23.7 trillion in early 2015…where the nonfinancial corporate debt to GDP ratio has risen to 125%, up from 100% five years ago.”
“The taps are now drying up.”

The kids are not alright:
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/women-struggle-more-than-men-to-pay-off-student-debt-2015-12-03
No “pent-up demand” for $500,000 starter homes happening here (not without Captain Saveahoe and his beta wallet, anyway)
Oxide-nomics says these women will simply demand more pay to cover the debt.
These womyn with Masters degrees in Victimology Narratives pour my coffee at Starbucks, while paying only the interest on their $80,000 of student loans.
The lucky ones get a job making $30K at some sh*tty nonprofit or working for a magazine that nobody reads.
Without betabux, they age into their 30s with only the memory of Chad TC from that one weekend in Vegas, staring at the walls of their studio apartment with only their cats for company, drowning their sorrows in boxed wine and Ben & Jerry’s, wondering what went wrong.
Don’t be a betabux.
Yeah, all ten of them must really be suffering.
One day he’ll finally get a date with one, and his views will all change.
You don’t contribute much original thought to this blog.
He’s a witch! Ban him!
Although that was kind of funny Goon the same narrative could be offered for men…Those women you speak of may be choosing to stay single because they look around and all they see is losers, men that are not dependable, can’t be trusted or so self-absorbed that that they don’t want to become a nannie for them……
men that are not dependable, can’t be trusted or so self-absorbed
Or peter pan man-boys playing Red Dawn in the woods on the weekends and constantly ranting about/eagerly awaiting the end-times.
More like loser video game addicts who can’t clean up after themselves and talk constantly about mj.
Thumbs up.
50% these women will probrably marry betabuxx and then divorce him later and Keep the house while getting child-support and alimony!
45% will end up over the wall, in debt, broke, addicted to some substance and depressed taking prozac.
5% will actually have a balanced life for… career and mommy and marriage.
Too many womyn going to college using resources for lame majors like women studies, and sociology, and the like are pouring my coffee every morning while flirting… yeah thanx but no thanx… to much baggage.
Yo bet your @ss they all want a big house with granite and hot tub out back!!!!
You gotta go to 3rd world county and get a young submissive and respecting girl, NOT in debt or entitled disney princess…
Plan B: Get pregnant and let your husband pay-off your student loan… ’cause you’re too busy rear’n to work. This is frequently the strategy for the low income liberal arts majors.
That’s the definition of betabux. And better yet if they can get impregnated by Alpha sperm and snare a beta wallet into raising another man’s child.
AF/BB, as always
“That’s the definition of betabux.”
Can’t beat the practical education one can get here. Thanks!
Why don’t the betabux hook up with the boxed winos? Seems to be a match made in heaven.
Why don’t the betabux hook up with the boxed winos?
Prepare to be bro-flamed.
I feel sorry for the white man in America. (And every color too.) But seriously. I think the white man in America has been hit hardest by forces from the left and the right the past few decades.
Men have been hit hard by the right-wing/trickledown jive in that many of his jobs have been taken away or devalued, thus undermining the man’s central role in the family as the breadwinner and as his essential role in society.
And then hit hard by the left, who has devalued (through academia, media and public policy) the man’s historical role in family/society, while cheerleading only for the females in society. This stuff adds up people.
It’s has done great harm to the dynamics of the male/female, family and societal relationships in America.
No wonder marriage is way down and we have an explosion of single mothers. And there’s no wonder many women talk bad about men and men talk about the old-maid cat ladies.
Why don’t the betabux hook up with the boxed winos?
Oxy, you’re one of the few on this thread that gets it. The problem is there aren’t enough betabux to marry all of them. The women who refuse to settle with a man with a lower income, lower education, et cetera, are holding out for a sliver of the single male population. Those of which with assets and options, would rather marry a perky 28 year old than a 35+ female.
Reproductive biology doesn’t care about the Sex In The City narrative. Men who do want children will select women based on the same traits of fertility that have propagated the humanoid species since it evolved out of East Africa.
Who are you and what have you done to Rio????
if it’s any help, the “traditional” values are coming back in America. All that liberation and education only increased the competition in the white-collar labor pool.
So now, the department stores are full of princesswear and makeup out the wazoo, led by Anna and Elsa of Frozen fame. Priority is snag a man, BA is the backup plan.
“Men who do want children will select women based on the same traits of fertility that have propagated the humanoid species since it evolved out of East Africa.”
We talkin’ monster big boobs?
Silicone isn’t genetic. And no matter which fertility trait the men may want, the only one they’re likely to get is “permission.”
would rather marry a perky 28 year old than a 35+ female ??
Which in a short seven years will become the 35+ year old hag by your standard…If thats the thinking, then I submit the dude is thinking with the wrong head…
Who are you and what have you done to Rio????
Same ol’ Rio. I’ve never marched entirely lock-step with the left nor the right.
There’s not much I’ve ever said that can actually be considered “far left”.
On most of the issues I address, my opinion lies well within the majority’s opinion and/or within the historical traditions of America.
For example:
I believe in progressive taxation, more equal wealth and income distribution and stronger safety nets as do the majority of Americans. This does not make me a “lefty”. This puts me well toward the center of American values and opinions.
It’s just the right-wing’s massive lurch towards the right the past few decades that make the far-right erroneously paint my type opinions as “leftist”.
Newsflash to the far-right: Your AM radio influenced opinions are the outliers in America. You are the minority. I mostly speak from the center of American opinion.
I believe in progressive taxation, more equal wealth and income distribution and stronger safety nets as do the majority of Americans.
You’re right, I’m in favor of these objectives too. The difference mainly lies with HOW you think we should get there.
You like to push marginal spending needs onto the 1% rather than making everyone pay a little bit more (with the 1% still taking the brunt of the hit).
You think we should have more regulation, not less–when the last decade should show that more regulation leads to there being fewer large companies in any given industry, which exacerbates wealth and income inequality (economies of scale result in marginally fewer good paying jobs, leaving more to fight over crappy paying jobs).
Wait until Hilary gets Elected President
“And then hit hard by the left, who has devalued (through academia, media and public policy) the man’s historical role in family/society, while cheerleading only for the females in society. This stuff adds up people. “
the last decade should show that more regulation leads to there being fewer large companies in any given industry
It seems like that would only apply to certain regulations. Anti-trust laws, for example, should have the opposite effect.
You like to push marginal spending needs onto the 1% rather than making everyone pay a little bit more (with the 1% still taking the brunt of the hit).
Not really. The ideal is a system where wealth and productivity are shared so much more equally that the middle-class and poor’s income goes up so much that the taxes paid into the system come more from everybody. Just tweaking the tax code with the current wealth and income imbalance will help but won’t solve the big problemo imo.
You think we should have more regulation, not less–when the last decade should show that more regulation leads to there being fewer large companies in any given industry,
It’s not regulation that’s the problem. It’s the type of regulations.
Obviously when Teddy Roosevelt busted up trusts/monopolies he did it with regulations.
There would have been no other way to bust up trusts other than the regulations. The problem is that many of the new “regulations” have been approved by lobbyists to serve their own interests.
Sometimes it sounds as if the red pill guys want a June Cleaver - a wife who will stay home and cook and take care of the kids. Maybe they don’t know what they want.
I would have liked to marry June Cleaver or Donna Reed. What man wouldn’t want to come home everyday to a clean house, a hot meal and a clean, hot wifey. Especially one who knew her place.
Especially one who knew her place ??
Knew her place ?? Thats a bit condescending and really part of the problem…If you want to be a taskmaster husband (partner) good luck finding anyone beyond a high school diploma if that…
“Especially one who knew her place.”
Ouch… that’s gonna cost ‘ya!
I pd off my ex’s MA loans from the losses on my 2nd house I sold for more than I bought it for in 2005. Depreciation can be useful.
I never said anything like that.
Oxidonomics is about buying a house vs. renting, not about feminism (I’m not the board feminist).
The article is a crap article because, AS USUAL, they don’t break it down by major. Women borrow the same amount of $$ but they major in crap, so they get paid crap, so they shouldn’t be surprised when they owe a crapload compared to what they get paid.
BTW when I was in college, “journalism” was what DUMB people majored in.
BTW, Tinder (which piggybacks off the Facebook app) now populates user profiles with colleges attended and current occupation. Yes, you can lie on Facebook and put anything you want for education or employment, but this new update is pretty revealing of those who do not.
Alot of 30-something tattooed single moms working in retail out there.
Better make way for the 20-something tattooed single Latina moms!
#YEB!
da bear
BTW when I was in college, “journalism” was what DUMB people majored in.
+1. Yup, people who washed out of pre-med, engineering, etc. all changed their majors to “soft” majors like teaching, journalism, business admin, psychology.
It’s probably one of those majors that has far too many kids majoring in it. A lot of those good jobs in journalism appear to be held by graduates of good colleges.
Of course, there are some bright talented journalists. Still, it would be humorous at a press conference to ask, “How many of you flunked out of calculus or biochem?”
Simple question. Did the study by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research control for things like area of study? In other words, how significant is the difference between men and women, if you, say look at Men vs. Women who both graduate with the same type of degrees from public universities.
In other words, do they struggle to pay off debt simply because they are women? Or do they struggle to pay it off because they overpaid for their education relative to their career?
I’m not an advocate of discrimination or prejudice, so wage gaps due simply to what is between your legs needs to end. However, it’s not clear to me at all if the effect they note is simply due to the fact that there are fewer women in majors that ultimately result in higher paying careers.
“The Fossil Fuel Industry Is Bankrolling the Paris Climate Talks”
“Of course [corporate sponsorship] is a conflict of interest, just as it is a conflict of interest to have fossil fuel producing nations participating in the COP,”
“You might not expect fossil fuel companies to pay for a conference designed to shrink their industry. But in Paris, that’s precisely what’s happening.”
“This week and next, roughly 40,000 diplomats, activists, policy experts, and journalists are gathering in the French capital…$200million”
http://climatedesk.org/2015/12/the-fossil-fuel-industry-is-bankrolling-the-paris-climate-talks/
On the other hand, the climate summit bankrolls the fossil fuel industry. It seems ironic at the least, 40,000 people flying around the world to reduce the use of fuel. Kind of like destroying the village to save it. I have never understood why conservation is not part of the agenda for these save the planet warriors. Isn’t wasting enough fossil fuel to power a small nation state a “conflict of interest”?
Isn’t wasting enough fossil fuel to power a small nation state a “conflict of interest”?
Anyone who’s ever ran a business knows that face to face is by far the best way complicated negotiations get done. In international politics involving dozens of countries, even more so.
Any fuel burned putting on the international climate conference is a rounding error compared to the conservation goals of the conference. It’s even too small to be a rounding error.
Complaining about the climate summit burning “too much” energy to get there is like saying:
“Don’t go to the store to buy food because it will burn too many calories to get there“.
‘Leonardo DiCaprio has said he is planning a long break from acting to concentrate on environmental activism. In an interview with Germany’s mass circulation daily Bild, the 38-year-old American actor said: “I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment,” he added.’
‘There seems to be a very big contradiction going on there, lots of carbon footprints and lots of photo oppertunities for the star who flew in a private jet a couple of weeks ago to watch the new years celebrations in Sydney and then back to America. We are still not sure how all this flying about is going to save the planet and what role Leonardo is going to play but nice try and good sentiments- just needs thinking through a bit more…’
I’ll go out on a limb here and guess that not one darn thing will change because of this Paris photo-op, I mean, conference.
we are talking about it. It is already here.

“Q: Given the uncertainty associated with conducting monetary policy operations with large excess reserves, why doesn’t the Fed simply shrink its balance sheet?
A: Although the Fed has communicated its intention to reduce the size of its balance sheet over time and create a Treasury-only portfolio, we do not expect any actions to meet this intent any time soon. The Minutes of the July 2015 FOMC meeting indicated that “Participants generally favored continuing reinvestment during the early stages of normalization, initially using only increases in the target range for the federal funds rate to reduce monetary policy accommodation.” Fed officials have communicated their concerns that asset sales pose the risk of sending unintended hawkish policy signals, along with the potential to create unexpected financial market reactions. Accordingly, we do not expect any balance sheet normalization until mid-2017.”

Isn’t it creepy that Bulgarians are obsessed with US central bank minutiae?
and Brad Pitt movies.
A friend of mine in school was from Bulgaria, and she described the hyperinflation of the time. More than a lot of countries, their population understands what happens with high inflation. Most see high inflation as an interesting theory…they lived it.
If you lived through such a time, you might care more about what the Fed says.
“The Brazilian economic crisis has finally hit the 2016 Olympics. Following a new round of cost-cutting by the Rio 2016 organizers, athletes will be asked to pay for the air conditioning in their dorm rooms. Stadium backdrops will be stripped to their bare essentials.”

Is gravity about to catch up to Yellen’s Ponzi market?
http://wolfstreet.com/2015/12/03/how-this-bull-markets-ended/
do we get a sh@tty jobs # so they have an excuse not to raise rates?
Yellen will not raise rates regardless. She will conjure up yet another excuse to maintain ZIRP or even institute NIRP by the time October 16 rolls around.
Today’s strong payrolls report has been interpreted by real MSM journalist as locking in liftoff. But Mr Market seems to think otherwise: The stock market rally on the jobs report suggests the bulls expect the Fed to find excuses to punt liftoff into 2016.
Only if you mistakenly assume all interest rate hikes automatically cause stocks to go down. Historical trading data shows that when rates are below 4%, more than half the time stocks go up after rate hikes.
Obviously it’s different this time, after seven straight years of ZIRP with QE thrown in.
Why Yellen will come up with some inventive new excuse to maintain ZIRP.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-12-03/its-just-025-rate-hike-whats-big-deal-here-stunning-answer
I really do think this is an interesting question in a vacuum, yes or no on Dec 15-16 rate hike. Substantively meaningless because they can’t and won’t do any meaningful increase in any foreseeable timeframe that would bankrupt govt and crash the ponzeconomy.
What do you do when you’ve been threatening to shoot but only have 1 bullet? Shoot and possibly miss and be defenseless or do some more waving around of the gun and threatening until you are charged at?
Draghi backpedaled because the divergence between the rates in Germany and the increased rate that is baked-in with the FED would cause to much market turmoil…The new question for the markets is when is the next rate increase….
When central bankers can no longer levitate…
Is gravity about to catch up to …
Ah yes, the laws of physics again. What’s the mass of a Yellen Ponzi scheme? I’d like to calc its acceleration. British units are OK but metric kg would save me a step, thnx.
Is gravity about to catch up to Yellen’s Ponzi market?

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-12-03/auto-loan-madness-continues-us-car-buyers-take-record-debt-lunatic-financing-terms
A larger casualty as we approach the end of the global credit mania.
1. Gas prices are low.
2. Dodd-Frank kicks in for auto loans next October. If the buyer can’t put 10% down on the TOTAL cost of the car (include taxes/fees), then the lender has to retain 5% of the loan.
My guess is that car companies are pulling demand forward as far as they can.
Just more cars for us with cash to pick through once the whole debacle unravels!!!!

A comment:
Regarding the brainwashing out there- I asked a few of my associates about AMZN, gave them short summary bullets of some of your main points. Their response:
-no way that Oracle et al can compete with Amazon, way too big, way too much server space etc
-AMZN makes so much money from their fulfillment- charging per month for storage, etc. no way others can compete
-etc
I asked what the barrier to entry for Walmart, Target (crappy website) etc to compete- if they can make a search/find function like amazon… they said no way, amazon is too big, etc.
I asked how long it can continue if bezos keeps issuing new debt to stay in business, etc… blank looks.
Then the old blather about PE does not matter (1999… echo…) and a company like Amazon and TSLA (TELSA!lol) are different, gamechangers! you can’t value them the same way. Earnings don’t matter, it’s the incredible potential and technology the company brings to the marketplace. Well, what about barriers to competition? blank looks again…
well, I’ll go hop on my unicorn and sip some cool-aide
Anyways, I know where to sell that incredibly potentially bridge in Brooklyn…
beep beep
amazon is a total ponzi scheme.
All they care about are sales even if they sell their stuff at a loss.
Have you shopped there? Prices are always high.
I guess they have the cool factor like sbux going.
Some people like to brag about being prime members @ amzn.
This stock has bubble written all over it but they keep borrowing money to paper over their problems.
“This sucker is going down”
I don’t shop on Amazon, but I have a buddy who sells there as a third party merchant. Thinks it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The holy grail for guys like him is to buy some widget from China wholesale and sell it for a profit on Amazon. Seems to work for some, for others, not so much. There are entire courses devoted to How to Become a Millionaire Selling on Amazon. Just like the real estate courses. And Amazon Youtube gurus galore.
Anyway, despite all the information and “training” out there, it’s taken my buddy a year to actually locate a product and a Chinese vendor to work with.
Another development is that I see a couple of online bloggers referring to the Washington Post as the Bezos Post. And it is interesting to note that WaPo has it in for Trump big time. Seems like at least one anti-Trump article per day, sometimes more than one, at least judging by the google news aggregator.
Bezos appears to be in raw, gibbering fear of Trump and I’m guessing Trump’s positions on international trade is the reason why. Oh, yeah, also, Bezos hired that loser Carney who used to be Obama’s mouthpiece.
Oh, hi there, Jeff. http://zamnar.com/363565.html
I am Prime.
The most expensive words of any investor is “it’s different this time”. I first started hearing that during the dotcom bubble with respect to companies that made no money (webvan anyone?).
I heard it again with respect to the “permanently high plateau” of housing prices during 2005-2007.
One phrase though that I think is pretty important to consider is “content is king”. I believe that companies that own unique content, can leverage that content for recurring revenues. Companies like Time Warner/MGM/Universal are probably under-appreciated for this when thinking about long term revenue potential. Disney, with the Marvel Universe, Pixar, Star Wars, and all their characters will continue to be a monster.
In that regard, Amazon I believe is very smart with their Prime Memberships to get access to some of their content (which is just starting). A HUGE number of people have bought into the concept of $99 per month for 2-day shipping, and access to their content (again, the content is just starting).
Yes, Target and WalMart could compete with distribution networks, scale, etc. However, they would need to play catch-up to get people to buy into another $99 per year fee for 2-day shipping, and they have no content. If you have a great idea for a new show, would you go to Netflix? HBO? Amazon? Or WalMart? I personally think that Amazon would be third on the list (maybe soon to be second), but WalMart a distant 4th.
That said, I am NOT long AMZN. Today’s price assumes a HUGE amount of growth in revenues and earnings, and that they continue to fend off competition. Same story with Tesla. One thing is always certain–if someone makes a lot of money with an idea, competition will try to grab some of that money, if they have the ability.
Should have said $99 per YEAR…
Instacart, Deliveroo, Postmastes, DoorDash, Seamless, Munchery, SpoonRocket, Sprig, Blue Apron, Gobble, HelloFresh, HomeChef…
So much savvy tech on display! The way they manage to put different kinds of food stuffs in the car and drive it to your house. Why didn’t anyone think of this before? Fortunes to be made. -nod-
‘Founded in 2013, DoorDash is a food delivery service. It’s also the latest startup to be eying a valuation of more than $1 billion. DoorDash already raised $40 million in March; according to Bloomberg, it may soon reap another round of funding that would put the company in the same lofty territory as Uber, Airbnb, and more than 100 other so-called unicorns.’
‘Not that DoorDash is doing anything terribly original. Startups bringing food to your door are everywhere. There’s Instacart, which wants to shop for groceries for you. Deliveroo and Postmastes, like DoorDash, are looking to overtake Seamless as the way we get takeout at home. Munchery, SpoonRocket, and Sprig offer pre-made meals. Blue Apron, Gobble, HelloFresh, and HomeChef deliver ingredients to make the food ourselves. For the moment, investors are giddily rushing to subsidize this race to our doors. But skeptics say that the payout those investors are banking on might never come.’
‘Even in a crowded field, funding for these delivery startups continues to grow. CB Insights, a research group that tracks startup investments, said this summer that the sector was “starting to get a little crowded.” Last year, venture-backed food delivery startups based in the US reaped more than $1 billion in equity funding; during first half of this year, they pulled in $750 million more, CB Insights found.’
‘The enormous waves of funding may prove money poorly spent if Silicon Valley finds itself in a burst bubble.’
‘Bill Gurley, the well-known investor and a partner at venture firm Benchmark, believes delivery startups may soon be due for a rude awakening. Unlike the first dotcom bubble, he said, smartphones might offer help, because startups are able to collect more data. But he compared the optimism investors are showing for such low-margin operations to the misplaced enthusiasms of 1999. “It’s the same shit,” Gurley said during a recent appearance. (Gurley’s own investment in food delivery service, GrubHub, went public in April 2014 and is now valued at more than $2.2 billion.)’
‘The world today isn’t the same as 1999. While Webvan was dependent on employees and expensive warehouses, DoorDash operates with contractors and delivers food from restaurants. “Will things be different this time?” Deighton asks. “Well, of course, the fixed costs are lower thanks to the bring-your-own-car part-time labor market pioneered by Uber.”
I had lunch with a guy who is a tech investor the other day…he reminded me that Amazon went public in 1997. You’d think that is someone was going to kick their *ss, they would have done it by now…there has certainly been plenty of money to fund the efforts over the past 18 years.
It is FAR too early to see if Uber/AirBNB and all the other unicorns will survive competition. However, at some point, you have to admit that a business that appears to have few barriers to entry might actually have more barriers to entry than you think, if people have been unsuccessfully trying to compete with them for well over a decade.
“I had lunch with a guy who is a tech investor…”
Who picked-up the tab?
It was my invite, so I paid–although I don’t think it would have pained him too much if he paid.
It is different this time. ZIRP. Think things have recovered. Then why still ZIRPy?
So, interest rates are at a permanently low level? Are you buying 30-year treasuries then?

FWIW another serious issue with Amazon is the prevalence of counterfeit items of all sorts and from what I’ve seen nothing is done in some cases despite MANY customer complaints and negative reviews going back a year or more. I’ve stopped buying many things there as a result, would rather pay more locally and be reasonably sure of getting a genuine item.

If the left admitted their true position — ban all guns — they wouldn’t ever win another election. So they need to lie. It’s that simple.
We have a lot of leftists on this blog who claim to be against most of the leftist positions but will still vote for Hillary in any circumstance.
Are they going to take away my remote controlled car and my assorted pipe fittings as well?

So where’s our latest band, Sad Panda and the Marshas?

If the left admitted their true position — ban all guns
Please, you’re just making that up. Yeah, you might find a few fringe lefties out there who might support a total ban, but the left as a whole does not support repeal of the 2nd amendment.
The left wants only their ideal Hitlerian State to own guns. The video man, the video!
dont all those poor, blacks in Chicago with guns, shooting each other on welfare all vote Demo?
You are completely wrong. Example: Britain, and Australia. That’s where we are headed.
If the left admitted their true position — ban all guns — they wouldn’t ever win another election.
Look at the huge conflict in that fundamentally flawed AM radio premise.
So if the left won’t even admit they want to ban all guns because they’d never win another election, Then why would the left ever ban all guns? Because they don’t want to win another election??
“Banning all guns” will never happen. But yet the right-wing uses it to rile up the illogically thinking base.
You all want to ban guns and just lie and claim it’s only some guns. You do not want private gun ownership. Australia’s model is you have to prove why you want one and self defense doesn’t count.
Oh I don’t mean all guns, I only mean the bad scary assault rifles or handguns. Just like them coming first for the gypsies the for the Jews.
They came for my AK and I did nothing, then they came for my Glock…
Ah, the old slippery slope argument. You should be concerned that can’t have your own nuclear weapon.

Is the perception of your reality always an all-or-nothing deal?
You’re a gun banner bud. A gun banner who votes for gun banners.

The new “narrative” here is asking when Australia is gonna start putting people in death camps.
At some point in my lifetime, the Department of Homeland Security is going to go to war with a resistance element of the U.S. military, and it will happen on American soil.
There will be a grid collapse, remotely controlled from the Beltway, and lots and lots of cold and hungry people will turn over their guns in exchange for getting on the bus and feeding their children.
And alot of people won’t. They are who the grabber collectivists want to put in death camps. DHS won’t hesitate to fire on American citizens, and tens of millions could die.
It’s the progressive way.
When China pulls an Imperial Japan and makes its play for it’s own “Greater East Asian Co-Posperity Sphere,” Australians are going to curse the traitorous elites who disarmed them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KaX0F8GojI
They’re counting on America. We’ve already got a contingent of Marines that spends about half the year in the northern Australia. If they can’t rely on us, it’s not likely that a few thousand bogans with semi-automatic weapons could protect Australia from the most populous nation on the planet.
China has plenty of expensive infrastructure already fed into the target database. Like Putin, they will step outside their boundaries carefully.
Democide: Socialism, tyranny, guns and freedom. The collectivists’ end-game is always the same: forcible confiscation of wealth and assets from the productive to give to their parasitic base, with prison camps and mass graves for resisters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVK0yZAhBKM
The majority of whitey must be exterminated.
Only then, can Soros and the Davos/Aspen crowd reign globally over the former Anglosphere nations now populated mostly by brown peasants dependent on the government dole.
Some black kid on the streets of Chicago who shoots his Glock holding it sideways is not a threat to the globalist agenda.
Who they fear most is well armed whitey, who actually knows how to field strip a rifle and load their own cartridges.
This will be the last resistance to the progressive exterminators.
P.S. Molon Labe you motherf*ckers
This will be the last resistance to the progressive exterminators.
Wow! Bad night last night, or are you up and sampling your wares too early? Or both?
Here is Australia’s model:
“These reforms passed, creating the National Firearms Agreement. Aside from banning certain semiautomatic and self-loading rifles and shotguns, the legislation required all firearm-license applicants to show “genuine reason” for owning a gun, which couldn’t include self-defense.”
Good luck advocating requiring all people to show a reason to buy a gun, a reason that doesn’t include self defense. If asked about this, what would Hillary say?
And your little dog too!
The majority of whitey must be exterminated…This will be the last resistance…they fear most is well armed whitey…
Thanks for the reminder!
(I need to call my friend and ask him how they say “coo coo clock” in Portuguese.)
They are who the grabber collectivists want to put in death camps. DHS won’t hesitate to fire on American citizens, and tens of millions could die. It’s the progressive way.

Hand-wringing, hand-wringing, hand-wringing. There is no reason to get all kill ‘em about it, the solution is simple, if distasteful to some. But far preferable to all these wars and bombings. It’s NO and GO:
“We will have terrorist attacks and threats of terrorist attacks and inconvenient and humiliating security measures and the disruption of ordinary activities FOREVER, as long as Muslims are in the West in any significant numbers. The Muslim terrorists are part and parcel of the Muslim community. According to a survey reported in the Scotsman, 24 percent of Muslims in Britain (I never describe them as “British Muslims”) believe the July 2005 London bombings were justified. Imagine that. Not only do these Muslims in Britain support terrorism against Britain, they’re not afraid to say so openly to a pollster! The unchangeable fact is that wherever there is a sizable Muslim community there will be a very large number of terror supporters and therefore—inevitably—actual terrorists as well.
This is our future, FOREVER, unless we stop Muslim immigration and initiate a steady out-migration of Muslims from the West until their remaining numbers are a small fraction of what they are now and there are no true believers among the ones that remain. Travelers from Muslim countries must be tightly restricted as well. Muslims must be essentially locked up inside the Muslim lands, with only carefully screened individuals allowed into the non-Muslim world.
The enemy are among us, in America, in Britain, in the West, and will remain so until we remove them from the West and indeed from the entire non-Muslim world. As extreme as this sounds, it is a no-brainer. There is no other solution. All other responses to this problem add up to meaningless hand-wringing. The hand-wringing will go on FOREVER, along with the terrorist attacks and the threat of terrorist attacks, until we take the ONLY STEPS that can actually and permanently end the threat.”
http://www.amnation.com/vfr/archives/006198.html
There is no other solution.
So this will be the final solution?
Once we’ver purged the muzzies, what do we do with the angry white guys? Send them to Texas?
Arm bands and a database for angry white guys might be a great way to prevent future terrorist attacks like the one at Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood.

I personally know many Muslims who aren’t terrorists, and all the folks who are talking up the terrorist angle on the San Bernardino incident appear to be politicians with agendas.
How would you like it if a member of your ethnic group committed an act of violence, leading to a political movement to kick you and all of your relatives out of the country?
Considering the fact that there’s a mass shooting incident on average once a day, most of are members of ethnic groups who have shut up a bunch of indiscriminately some time in the past few months.
meant to write “… most of us are members of ethnic group…”
No, no, the way it works in the US is, we don’t kick anyone out, we open the doors wide and welcome in every questionable character from all over the world, no matter what their sympathies. And we turn ‘em loose on regular folks, right in their communities.
We used to restrict immigration from certain parts of the world for reasons of incompatibility. I really don’t see what’s wrong with that. We have our own problems to handle.
“I personally know many Muslims who aren’t terrorists,”
They many not be active terrorists, but there may be supporters among them.
Incompatibility doesn’t describe the old restrictions well.
This is a description of the motivation behind the 1924 immigration act.
Proponents of the Act sought to establish a distinct American identity by favoring native-born Americans over Jews, Southern Europeans, and Eastern Europeans in order to “maintain the racial preponderance of the basic strain on our people and thereby to stabilize the ethnic composition of the population”.[9][10] Reed told the Senate that earlier legislation “disregards entirely those of us who are interested in keeping American stock up to the highest standard – that is, the people who were born here”.[11] Southern/Eastern Europeans[who?] and Jews, he believed, arrived sick and starving and therefore less capable of contributing to the American economy, and unable to adapt to American culture.[9]
Some of the law’s strongest supporters were influenced by Madison Grant and his 1916 book, The Passing of the Great Race.[citation needed] Grant was a eugenicist and an advocate of the racial hygiene theory. His data purported to show the superiority of the founding Nordic races[who?]. Most proponents of the law were rather concerned with upholding an ethnic status quo and avoiding competition with foreign workers.[12] Samuel Gompers, a Jewish immigrant and founder of the AFL, supported the Act because he opposed the cheap labor that immigration represented, despite the fact that the Act would sharply reduce Jewish immigration.[13]

The idea of a new mother helping carry out a mass murder perplexed many. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who had a classified FBI briefing on the shooting Thursday, said leaving an infant for a suicide mission was “not something a woman would easily do.”

Humorous attempt at humor from our friends at Russia Times/Zerohedge:
Elderly Obama and Kerry Gripe About President Snowden in Bizarre Commercial
by Joshua Keating
The Kremlin-funded global satellite network RT, formerly known as Russia Today, is frequently accused of being little more than Russian propaganda outlet with a penchant for conspiracy theories. It’s tried to push back with its “question more” ad campaign, which portrays the network as an alternative view to the pro-government corporate shills in the mainstream American media.”
RT has amped up that argument with a commercial timed for its 10th anniversary, which flashes forward to 2035 to show an aging Barack Obama and John Kerry sitting on Barack’s porch, griping over a couple of brews that “no one is afraid of us anymore.” The ad then shows President Edward Snowden speaking on RT, promising a “new era of transparency.” Both men dismiss it as “propaganda bullhorn.”
[Which raises the question:] Why does Obama have RT on in his house if he hates it so much? Is RT the only TV network allowed on the air under the Snowden administration? This is a little more sinister than the creators probably intended.

Dianne Feinstein is a fat old hag.

Yes, yes, we all know you’re “friends with the owner”, or at least have met him. Does that give you a feeling of power? Seems like you like to bring it up whenever your arguments aren’t doing so well.
Feeling of power? This senator is the one who feels she has the power to silence the opposition. And some here go on about fascism?
Apparently fascist tendencies are politically agnostic.
feeling of power
Seems like Goon tries to silence some of us by suggesting he’s gleaned some secret knowledge about us, or has somehow gained some advantage over us, by meeting you. I thought I was doing you a favor by suggesting to him it wasn’t a very complimentary thing to you for him to imply such things. I assume you don’t “name names”, as he seems to suggest at times.
‘I assume you don’t “name names”
I don’t know 99.9% of the names of people who comment here. I’ve met a lot of posters over the years and got a few first names. Maybe I should auction off lunches like Warren Buffet, since I have all this power.
I almost never look up IP’s. (Now I know that’s meaningless too). Mostly I just scan comments for things that need to be deleted or food-fights that need to be stopped. One thing I have noticed meeting posters; they are normal, friendly people.
Seems like Goon tries to silence some of us by suggesting he’s gleaned some secret knowledge about us
Yeah, that’s why he’s always ranting and raving about narrative. He thinks that it’s important to censor the truth so that he can spread his BS. He reads about people like Stalin to learn how to spread propaganda most effectively.
normal, friendly people
That’s exactly how we want to be perceived
Well, if Tyler the Bulgarian is getting payments from the Kremlin on a regular, that would make him real according to Senator Feinstein.
Why does Obama have RT on in his house if he hates it so much? Is RT the only TV network allowed on the air under the Snowden administration? This is a little more sinister than the creators probably intended.
If you watch the commercial, you realize this is a very good point. They aren’t laughing ironically at the news, they’re angrily scorning it, but still watching it, as if they have no other choice. Their only other choice appears to be for them to go for a walk in the woods.
You have to forgive the people at Russia Times, I’m sure that’s the only type of future world they can imagine.
Why Have There Been More Mass Shootings Under Obama than the Four Previous Presidents Combined?
December 3, 2015
Ronald Reagan: 1981-1989 (8 years) 11 mass shootings
Incidents with 8 or more deaths = 5
George H. W. Bush: 1989-1993 (4 years) 12 mass murders
Incidents with 8 or more deaths = 3
Bill Clinton: 1993-2001 (8 years) 23 mass murders
Incidents with 8 or more deaths = 4
George W. Bush: 2001-2009 (8 years) 20 mass murders
Incidents with 8 or more deaths = 5
Barrack H. Obama: 2009-2015 (in 7th year) 162 mass murders
Incidents with 8 or more deaths = 18
Not to mention that five out of the 12 deadliest mass shootings in American history have happened not just since Barack Obama became president, but just under his first term as president alone. That’s nearly half.
Something else is going on here.
So… what is it?
http://www.thedailysheeple.com/…r-obama-than-the-four-previous-presidents-combined_122015 - 90k -
Sandy Hook was an inside job executed by the Department of Homeland Security under direct orders from King Obama.
And he’s got 13-1/2 more months in office, don’t underestimate what he is capable of. He would murder a million children if it would secure more power in the hands of the globalists.
Crisis actors need work.
A lot of these are inside jobs, IMO. It really isn’t too much of a stretch when you think about it. All the security-industrial complex spooks have to do is pick up one of these “loners”, pump ‘em full of pharmaceuticals, give them some commands and let ‘em rip. The CIA has this down to a science. Also there are shrinks who collaborate in this.
I’ve been following the whole James Holmes thing and that one has ALL the hallmarks. They scrambled that poor guy’s brain pretty good.
Also note that it is not limited to “right wing” incidents.
A few years ago the FBI infiltrated Occupy Cleveland and roped a few libtards into a plot to blow up the Route 82 bridge over the Cuyahoga River in Brecksville.
Occupy was just as much a threat to the globalist pigs as anti-government elements, therefore it had to be crushed and its narrative deflated with incidents like this.
That “poor guy” shot a bunch of children. I don’t think you want to come down on that side.
The guy’s brains were scrambled. I am against human experiments. It’s gross.
Shoot up a school and you’re exempt from personal responsibility?
Why, that’s CRAZY!
Sadly, many Americans don’t value personal responsibility.
You have James Holmes mixed up with Adam Lanza.
I thought he shot up a Batman audience.
Yeah, look at the mug shot of the PP dude. Not sure he knew whether he was shooting or buying a puppy.
Interesting new twist: The American taliban is actually people drugged up and brainwashed by the CIA into believing exactly what the religious nuts already believe.

“As of May 2003, 82,581 individuals had complied with the domestic portion of the program. Of these, at least 13,153 were placed in deportation proceedings. Although the program originally included a requirement to re-register annually, the Department of Homeland Security, which gained jurisdiction over the program, eliminated this requirement.
NSEERS was indefinitely suspended as of April 27, 2011, when the US-VISIT program was instituted as its replacement.”

Show me any Muslim country where there is any diversity, tolerance, and multiculturalism like there is in this country.
But if we run the muslims out of this country, wouldn’t we be just like those countries?

What’s insane is you could believe that cr@p. (If you even actually do.) On the other side of your mouth you’ll complain that Obama is killing too many brown people with drones and airstrikes trying to take out “Political Islam”.

I almost puked at the San Bernardino terrorist family attorney, who discredits law enforcement and “things don’t add up”. I loved his comment that no one saw Syed with a pipe bomb. He blinked continuously.
Reminds me of the North Hollywood Bank Robbery suspect, who police shot dead and the family sued for the death. IIRC, they lost. The bank robber killed a cop and civilians, IIRC.
How low can Attorneys sink?
This pos Attorney said the couple were handcuffed at the scene, making it sound like they were being taken into custody and bullets flew. They fired 70+ rounds at police enforcement.
We have 5 Attorneys in our family, and not one is a Defense, or Personal Injury Attorney. I guess I should be proud. Mostly Real Estate and Business Law, one in Elder Law.
Yeah that’s something to be real proud of MT Pockets.

OPEC hikes production ceiling to 31.5 million barrels a day: Reuters
By Sara Sjolin
Published: Dec 4, 2015 9:15 a.m. ET
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries on Friday decided at its semi-annual meeting in Vienna to raise its production ceiling to 31.5 million barrels of oil a day, according to Reuters. Analysts had expected the cartel to keep its production cap at 30 million barrels a day. The ceiling, though, is seen as largely symbolic as the organization’s members have been overshooting it for months. In September, OPEC produced 31.57 million barrels a day, according to its own data. Oil futures wiped out earlier solid gains after the decision, with U.S. crude oil (CLF6, -2.24%) sliding 3.2% to $39.75 a barrel. It previously traded as high as $42 a barrel. Brent oil (LCOF6, -1.21%) dropped 2.5% to $42.74 a barrel.

Global Warming: at +6 deg. C., We All Die
Two thirds of all oxygen on Earth is created by phytoplankton in the oceans. At +6 C, photosynthesis and oxygen production in phytoplankton shut down. Oxygen deprivation covers the Earth, all mammals die.
We’re at +0.98 C now and rising fast. We will easily pass +1.00 C in 2016, halfway to the +2 C “where the SHTF” while COP21 in Paris agree to token countermeasures.
The clock is ticking. 1 down, 5 to go to the apocalypse. What a nice gift to give to our great-grandkids, eh?

Oh it’s fun. They drop golden nuggets with every word they utter. All I hear is that the angry old rich white woman is gonna win.
Soylent Green… was creepily correct when mentioning the death of the oceans as a primary catalyst of ecological collapse.
Interesting! I haven’t seen that in decades and have forgotten about it. What’s alarming is that the ocean is showing great stress today. Just recently 200 whales beached in Chile, jumping out of the water like goldfish, either because the ocean was too toxic or hot. Big coral die-off in Hawaii recently as well.

Donald Trump Tells Pro-Israel Crowd He Can’t Be Bought, Gets Booed
Speaking to the Republican Jewish Coalition on Thursday, Donald Trump once again demonstrated how he is not your typical presidential candidate.
“You’re not going to support me because I don’t want your money,” Trump told members of the Sheldon Adelson-funded hardline pro-Israel lobbying organization.
He went on to mock rival Jeb Bush for taking money from interest groups and then toeing their line. “That’s why you don’t want to give me money, OK, but that’s OK, you want to control your own politician. That’s fine, good,” he concluded.
And then, unlike the candidates who do want the coalition’s money, Trump broke with GOP orthodoxy, questioning Israel’s commitment to peace, calling for even treatment in Israeli-Palestinian deal-making, and refusing to call for Jerusalem to be Israel’s undivided capital — provoking a wave of boos from the audience.
Trump was asked about earlier comments he had made to an Associated Press reporter that he believes peace hinges on “whether or not Israel wants to make the deal — whether or not Israel’s willing to sacrifice certain things.”
Trump was quickly assailed after that comment by rival candidate Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who argued that land rights and a peace deal were not the issue and that Trump shouldn’t “question Israel’s commitment to peace.”
Trump continued to take a considerably more even-handed approach to the issue than his rivals at the event on Thursday. “I said that you have to have a commitment to make [peace]. I don’t know that Israel has the commitment to make it. I don’t know that the other side has the commitment to make it,” he said.
“I’d like to go in with a clean slate, and just say, ‘Let’s go, everybody’s even, we love everybody and let’s see if we can do something.’”
The moderator tried to pin Trump down on the litmus-test issue of whether Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel.
“You know what I want to do, I want to wait until I meet with Bi —” started Trump before he was interrupted by booing.
“Who’s the wise guy?” Trump asked. “Do me a favor, just relax, OK. You’ll like me very much, believe me, and you wonder why you get yourself in trouble.”
Trump continued to heckle his heckler: “You can’t go in with that attitude. If you’re going to make a deal, you could make a great deal, you can’t go in with the attitude we’re going to shove it down your — you gotta go in and get it and do it nicely so everyone is happy.”
In other words, to Trump, who prides himself on deal-making, it’s simply obvious that you can’t make a deal between two people if you start off by saying one of them always gets their way no matter what.

The woman who carried out the San Bernardino massacre with her husband had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and its leader on Facebook, a U.S. law enforcement official said Friday, providing the strongest evidence to date that the rampage may have been an extremist attack.
The official said Tashfeen Malik made her posts under an alias. A Facebook executive says she praised the leader of the Islamic State group in a post at 11 a.m. Wednesday, when the couple were believed to have stormed a San Bernardino social service center and opened fire.

5% unemployment rate? It’s a farce!
319,000 part-time jobs — for “economic reasons”. In other words, they couldn’t find full-time employment.
If all we look at are headlines, we’ll always be seduced by the propaganda. We must dig much deeper to get at the real truth! With 97 million American adults out of the workforce, there are now literally more people on welfare assistance of all kinds, than there are adults that are working and paying taxes! And that 5% unemployment rate? It’s a farce! that’s because people on welfare aren’t counted as unemployed. We now have more people on welfare… than working — literally! There are 46 million just on food stamps alone! That’s hardly a robust economy!
211,000 jobs, while more than the consensus expected by economists, is hardly a stellar jobs report. We would need 400,000-500,000 per month for a robust economy.
This figure today is just so-so by historical standards! And this number was 87,000 FEWER than last month, which was considered to be a disappointment because it was less than expected.
Note this too: In 2015, there have been 294,000 waiter and bartender jobs created! And precisely ZERO increase in manufacturing jobs! NONE!
As I type the market is up 339 points on nothing.

Tim Fischer, a retired Australian politician and former deputy prime minister in the right-wing government of Prime Minister John Howard, issued a stern rebuke of U.S. gun laws Thursday in the wake of the deadly San Bernardino attacks.
In an interview with Australia’s ABC News, Fischer decried the prevalence of mass shootings in the United States, insisting that it’s time to “call out” Washington.
“All [the shootings are] unacceptable because the U.S. is not stepping up on the public policy reform front,” said Fischer, who was a prominent campaigner for the gun law reforms enacted by Howard’s government following a 1996 mass shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania. The Australian state bought back more than 600,000 firearms from gun owners.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, those measures significantly curbed gun violence in the country:
Since the mid-1990s, Australia’s firearm mortality rate has dropped from 2.6 per 100,000 people to just under one per 100,000, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The rate in the US is more than 10 per 100,000, according to the US National Vital Statistics Report.
600,000? We buy more than that every time Obama talks about guns. Anyhoo Tim, we’ll take that under advisement. It did get me to thinking about what derogatory terms there were for Australians:

Bogan New Zealand/Australian white trash or rednecks.
Appearance: Typically clad in black rib jersey (Hallensteins, $49.95), black jeans, and a shredded black heavy-metal t-shirt. Clothing with beer logos is an acceptable alternative to above - Waikato is favourite. Black oil stains on skin optional. A curious feature is the haircut, which although short(ish) at the front and sides is long and straggly at the back. The cover thus provided enables one to distinguish the bogan from the redndeck.
Habitat: The beach in summer, but only those with free road access. Mt Maunganui provides a typical bogan haunt. Despite the heat, bogans NEVER expose their torsos, even when swimming. Science has yet to explain why they refuse to shed their protective coating of black fabric. Bogans may be found at all times on back roads, at rugby matches, and in public bars. If you can’t see a bogan straight away, they may be shy - try watching the older Holden Kingswoods for activity.
Feeding: Copious quantities of beer provide all the nourishment a Bogan requires.
Reproduction: Bogans appear to be exclusively male. Females are actively repelled by cries of “getchagearsoff” or “showusyagrowler” if they dare venture too close. Like geeks, rugbyheads and best friends of popular girls, the Bogan is the non-viable offspring of apparently fertile humans.
Seldom seen in numbers fewer than three.

‘Canadians may be surprised to learn that the term “Canadian” actually has a negative connotation in the country of Australia. Nobody’s entirely sure when it began, but at least since the late 70’s, when an Australian wants to belittle another, they will call them a “Canadian.”
“It’s pretty harsh to be called a ‘Canadian’ here.”

‘This week, Danny King, the minister of cultural heritage in Australia appeared on This is That to announce his country will be putting an end to this long standing practice.’
